Bantayan Island is one of those places that feels familiar even after some time away. I had been here many times before, but returning to the island still feels like a chance to experience it in a different way. I mean, with all the stuff you see on social media, there’s always new places to see and new things to experience.
I always love returning to a place that I’ve already visited. The roads are already familiar, some of the sights bring back memories, and you basically already know what vibe to expect. But destinations change, and so do our experiences of them.
Bantayan has grown considerably over the years. Now, there are more establishments, more accommodations, and more visitors discovering what has long made the island special. And during this visit, this was evident around Santa Fe.
Despite the increased activity, however, the island still retained much of the relaxed atmosphere that makes it so appealing. And it’s the atmosphere that we all love.
A major part of this trip was our stay at Costa Liz Island Resort, a nice little resort just minutes away from the port. For this visit, having a great base (in terms of location) was important, especially since we had to visit several spots. And Costa Liz was situated right at the perfect spot.
Costa Liz has plenty of room types that are perfect for different kinds of travelers. They also have nice amenities that ensure that your stay on the island is as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Additionally, the resort is close to many of the places where visitors typically spend their time in Bantayan. And that made it easy for us to head out and explore, then return to the resort whenever we wanted to rest. I particularly liked that balance.
The resort gave us a comfortable place to stay without putting us too far away from the action. If you want to hit the beach, it’s literally a few steps away. If you want to people-watch, the stretch where the resort is located is also where most visitors frequent. If you want to explore the town, a tricycle ride is all that it takes. In short, if you stay at Costa Liz, you wouldn’t have to speend too much time getting from one place to another.
Bantayan has plenty of things to see and do, and Santa Fe serves as a convenient starting point for many of them. And rather than spending a large part of the day traveling between destinations, we used most of our time actually enjoying the island (especially the water). That convenience is one of the things I appreciated most about the resort.
There are always new places popping up, but the things that make the island enjoyable remain pretty much the same. Good beaches, easygoing days, and plenty of reasons to stay a little longer. Until the next visit, Bantayan.
