Hey, guys! Here is another edition of Cebu Updates. For this edition (I can’t believe this is the 27th), I am going to feature some of the most exciting and controversial developments in and around Cebu City that you everyone is currently talking about. Are you ready? Let’s begin.
Megaworld Corporation has recently announced a gigantic lifestyle development in Lapu-Lapu City. Set to begin at the end of the year, the Mactan Newtown Beach Walk will feature a ‘beach mall’ built along the beach cliff of the 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township property.
The iconic Grand Tower Cebu, which is located right next to Bayfront Hotel behind SM City Cebu, is shaping up to be one of Cebu’s most visually stunning structures.
The old Metro Ayala, which was gutted by fire in 2018, rising fast. There’s a big chance the whole structure will be completed just in time for the Sinulog in 2020.
Passengers leaving the port area will be pleased to know that a new Jollibee has finally opened right next to Plaza Independencia.
I’m not sure what is up with the FilInvest Il Corso Mall at the South Road Properties, but it appears as though they are not in a hurry about opening the whole mall very soon. They recently opened their cinemas, but that’s just about it. Meanwhile, this location close to their dancing fountain, which was previously occupied by Gusto, is now vacant. Not a good sign.
The very controversial age-old trees of M. Veles are still being actively discussed online right now. It’s too late, however, as the trees have finally been removed.
The houses and structures in this very busy section in Apas has recently been demolished and cleared. Let’s see what happens to this plot of land in the coming months.
The Central Bloc Mall at the Cebu IT Park is finally opening very soon!
The mall has been teasing about the official opening date on Facebook page for weeks now.
Nothing new here. Just showing you the scene in downtown Cebu (near the University of San Jose Recoletos during Ukay Day (Sunday.)
The iconic Patria de Cebu, which sits right across the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral in downtown Cebu City, has been fenced off for the official start of its redevelopment.
To be helmed by the Cebu Landmasters, the development is seen to revitalize and make more exciting one of the city’s most important heritage areas.
Are you familiar with this area somewhere up North? You can now enjoy this wonderful view because the road has been widened and you can now actually park your vehicle along the road without disrupting traffic flow.
Remember that big open space right in front of the Danao City Fish Port? Danao City now has its very own McDonald’s.
It has a drive-through service for those who do not want to take a break from their northern Cebu road trip.
Remember that huge catastrophic fire that hit Tipolo, Mandaue in June? This is what the whole place looks like now.
All the ruined structured have been cleared and the entire area has been leveled.
This is what the whole site looks like today. Any guesses about the next plans for this lot?
