Genesis Valley Mountain Resort: In the Heart of Consolacion

After staying for more than a decade at the first company that took me in right after I graduated, I finally made the huge life-changing plunge. I got a job as an HR practitioner at a local college in the city. As a Psychology graduate, getting an HR job has been my ultimate dream. As some of you may already know, I got a job as a writer right after graduation. The plan was to stay for a couple of months and then get an HR job. But months turned to years, and before I knew it, 13 long years had passed. So, I started sending out applications, went to a few interviews, and did a lot of other things. Finally, one company showed interest and eventually declared that I was hired! Knowing that the HR field is mostly run by women, getting offered a position despite the lack of experience, the wrong gender, or the ‘non-trainable age’ was a pretty huge deal for me. So, I took it as a sign. Despite the substantial difference in how much I will be earning, I decided to drop everything and make the big switch. And that, my dear readers, explains why I have sort of neglected MCPB. For that, I apologize. Rest assured, however, that I will continue to blog about Cebu for as long as I can. I am hoping to make this a life-long project. And with all of you guys’ support, I’m sure this blog will still be around 30 years from now. *fingers crossed*

Anyway, one of my very first assignments as an HR assistant was to take care of the summer outing and teambuilding activity of company. One of the many venues that ended up on our list was a little-known resort in the town of Consolacion. As part of the organizing team, I had to visit the site to make sure that the venue was big enough for all our planned activities.

Long story short, I found myself driving towards the town of Consolacion one day for an ocular visit of a mountain resort called Genesis Valley. Here are some shots of the resort!

Welcome to Genesis Valley Mountain Resort!

Genesis Valley Mountain Resort is located in a Barangay called Cabangahan. If you’re in Consolacion Proper, start at the jeepney stop in front of Fooda Consolacion. Then, cross the street and look for a habal-habal. The fifteen to thirty-minute ride will cost you about PhP 25.00. The driver will drop you off right in front of the resort gate.

If you’re coming from Cebu City, get on a Talamban-Pit-os jeep (62B or 62C.) Get off at the busy intersection in Pit-os (near the Cebu International School main gate,) and get on a habal-habal. The five to ten-minute ride will cost you around PhP 20.00. The driver will drop you off right in front of the resort gate.

One of the numerous good things I really like about the resort is the abundance of open spaces. There are also a lot of trees and plants and the network of roads, pathways, and trails are very well-maintained.

The property is perfect for outdoor functions that involve large groups.

Aside from the usual aircon and non-aircon rooms, the resort also offers a cheaper and more adventurous alternative. You and your friends can have tents set up at the tent area for a very minimal fee.

The resort also has lots of open areas for young kids. And the kids at heart, of course.

They have a very well-maintained playground and activity area. The great thing about the playground, too, is that it doubles as an exercise area. All the ‘machines’ allow users to not only have fun but also to burn some calories.

At the heart of the resort is the huge swimming pool which is probably huge enough to hold hundreds of guests. The pool sits at the foot of a hill where several rooms are located.

The pool has several key features. It has smaller pools for kids, shower umbrellas, two slides, and even a Jacuzzi.

The pool Jacuzzi at Genesis Valley is definitely a crowd favorite.

An interesting road network can be seen within the vast property. If you’re the sporty/adventurous type, you’ll enjoy long walks and treks within the resort.

During my inspection, I reached this quiet little spot were several species of birds were kept.

These beautiful raptors are enjoying a quiet morning in the shade.

This good-looking yellow and black fellow is one of the most photographed birds in the area.

The highest point in the area is the hilltop where a small chapel can be seen. The hilltop perfect for retreats, meditations, and quiet talks with family or close friends.

Now, one of the most intriguing parts of the resort was this old abandoned pool. It was closed off to guests. However, since our company’s tents were located near the area, I was able to sneak in for a couple of cool shots. 🙂

Resting on the floor of the pool was this really nice cherub statue. Perfect for photo shoots and selfies, I must say.

Well, there you go! 😀
