Cebu Updates 15

Hello, all! Here’s another compilation of what’s new and what’s happening in Cebu. Cebu is very busy these days. And traffic is growing more and more horrible by the minute. I really hope that the BRT project will soon move forward because, honestly, even though I’m all for progress and development, I kinda miss the vibe of good old Cebu. You know, back when things were slow and people actually had to time to just sit in the shade and take their time. Now, everything is so hurried and impersonal.

So anyway, for this update, I included a few clips of individual updates and put them all together in one video. Hope you like it.

I have a feeling the Vivo Place (mall) right in front of the Capitol Parish Church (Escario Street) will open early next year.

So happy to see that the Fountain is finally getting repaired and repainted. I still couldn’t believe how it’s been so neglected for so long.

Another skyscraper is rising in Lahug right next to my high school.

Penshoppe will soon complete its yearly project at Fuente – a Sinulog set-up.

The 2014 Christmas Tree is said to be ‘typhoon-ready.’ With an supertyphoon entering the Philippine Area of Resonsibility soon, I sure hope, it is ready for the worst.

I feel like Christmas arrived late this year. Too many things to think about. But I’m glad to see these white stars running from Capitol all the way down to Abellana.

I am so thankful that the M. Velez Street (Capitol) widening project is now finally moving forward. About time!

Remember the huge A.C. Cortez Avenue when you’re heading towards the first bridge? Well, they’ve added a center island. I hope this helps solve the traffic problem in Mandaue.

The town of Liloan is getting its very first mall – Gaisano Grand Mall 0f Liloan.

After a long and quite controversial concreting project, the Sergio Osmeña Boulevard has finally been reopened.

The Simala shrine is now completely unrecognizable. If you haven’t been back in recent years, that is.

Carcar City gets its very first Super Metro.

Horizons 101 will be topped off this week! Wow!

The industrial city of Naga has a new road-side Jollibee!

The City Center Public Market in Barangay Kamagayan is now gone. A housing project has since replaced it.

Rustans recently opened their 3rd Rustans Supermarket in Cebu. The newest one is located in Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City.

The Mahiga Creek has been cleared for the implementation of the REDZ-RIVER project.

The Cebu City Hall grounds has two new occupants. These art monuments honor Cebu’s two great men – Sergio Osmeña and Vicente Rama.

The Superblock project has started at the Cebu IT Park.

SM Seaside City at the South Road Properties is looking really pretty.

  1. As always, great pics and write up, Ley. I have to agree with you – progress is good, but I miss the quiet and (relative) calm of the old Cebu where I grew up.

  2. By the way, what radio station is that (the one whose poster is posted near a bakery in M. Velez St., and it has the frequency of 91.5)? But it can’t be seen in any of the pictures, just asking.

  3. There is a lady standing at the old tres de abril st. That is my grand mother Justa Abella vda de Crystal de Real. We were so happy to see that photo online and my mama recognized my grand mother. those two houses are theirs. The houses got burned during WWII and what is left of the house was the cemented stairs. Thanks for sharing.
