Watering Hole

If you were born and raised in the big city, far from the lush greens, cool afternoon breeze, and the soothing sound of water,  nothing would be more appealing than a trip to the country. There, life is simpler, slower, and I dare say a lot happier. It is everyone’s dream to escape to the country, step on the brakes, and just take things slow.

Now, imagine waking up every single morning to this wonderful sight. In the middle of rice paddies and mango plantations, almost like an oasis, a small watering hole. Kids are splashing around while the adults are busy chit-chattering the afternoon away over soap suds and laundry. Every now and then, a neighbor arrives to fetch some water to drink or leaves with a basket full of clothes ready to dry. The kids’ laughter, the sound of fresh water, and everyone’s favorite afternoon radio drama fill the lazy afternoon air. Now, could life get any better than that? I think not.

The simple life. Awesome!

I’m sorry to say, however, that I cannot tell you exactly where this is located for I do not know the name of the place myself. Hehehe. All I can tell you is that this is in Carcar City in a Sitio known as Dancing Sun. I’m not even sure if that’s what it’s really called. Haha.

This small community well lies in the heart of this small barrio in Carcar. The well produces gallons of fresh and potable water every day.

Local kids collecting drinking water from one of the pipes.

Younger kids enjoying an afternoon swim.

The older folks are doing the laundry while chatting.

Perfect for summer!

I tell that story to my cousins here in the US because they do not know what their Mom (my aunt) and I used to do in our simple life there.
