Asturias Beach House: A Unique Beach Destination

During my short time with the Department of Tourism, I got a chance to travel to a few spots in Cebu. One of these spots was the Asturias Beach House in Barangay Owak, Asturias town. Although I didn’t stay there for leisure, the place was quite (literally) unforgettable because of how unique and quirky it was. So, today, I’m going to show you why this beach resort has been stuck in my head for the longest time. Ready? Let’s go!

Managing Asturias Beach House is Blissful Creations, an events company that doubles as a flower shop, based on my research. And if I am not mistaken, the two entities are basically owned by the same people. Now, if I were to rely heavily on what I found online, I guess it’s safe to say that it was the truth. Because look at all the flowers you see as soon as you enter the resort! 🙂

According to the staff that I spoke with, a lot of wedding receptions are held in this part of the resort. This is probably why they decided to make all the designs and decorations permanent.

Just below the main events area, you will find a big open space. In the evening, the place doubles as an exciting spot for dinner and drinks. Now imagine having that late-night beer right next to a mini mangrove forest. Exciting!

One of the biggest draws of the resort is the fact that it sits right next to an estuary. So, just a few steps from the rooms of the resort, guests can check out the big deck where they can get an impressive view of the brackish water below.

And did I forget to mention that the deck was huge? In fact, I heard that they do events here as well. Sound really lovely, don’t you agree?

Here’s a better view of the estuary as seen from the deck near the rooms.

Several meters from the events center, past the big open space, you can find the resort’s seaside restaurant and cafe.

The place looks very simple during the daytime. In the evening, however, the place glows and just comes to life with all the lights.

Like the beaches in Tuburan and Tabuelan, the beach in Asturias is brown and a bit pebble-y. If you look at the view, however, the miles of nothingness will blow you away.

If you’re up for some quick beach-combing, you’re in for a treat. The long uninterrupted shoreline will surely surprise you. If you’re lucky, you get to interact with the locals as well who would willingly tell you about little-known local facts and histories.

After combing the beach for a few hours, look what was waiting for us when we got back to the resort. Wow!

Of course, the very well-loved Bingka Dawa is never absent when you’re in Barangay Owak. This bingka tastes sooo good!

And finally, here’s a view of the deck where sun loungers can be found. Now imagine staying here in the late afternoon and enjoying the view that unfolds right before your eyes. Isn’t that just a dream?

I know there wasn’t a lot to show, but I hope you guys still got a bit of an idea about how the resort looks. I wish I could revisit one day soon so that I could give you a clearer picture of why the Asturias Beach House remains one of the most exciting properties on this side of Northern Cebu. Fingers crossed! 🙂
