MCPB Updates 23

The very first camera that I used when I started blogging was a Kodak Easy Share C300 camera. The Kodak Easy Share C300 camera is a very inexpensive digital point-and-shoot camera which is perfect for beginners like me.

I was an inexperienced point-and-shooter when I started MCPB. This explains the ‘quality’ of my photos. Still, it was a very faithful camera and my blog began to have a following because of it. It conked out while I was taking pictures of The Parklane Hotel in 2007.

Immediately after blogging about the unfortunate incident, the readers of this blog responded by starting a fund raising campaign. It was pretty fascinating since my blog was relatively new and I didn’t yet personally know the readers of my blog. Anyway, they were able to raise enough and I was able to buy a Kodak P712 camera. It became known as Lacey. Hehehe. Big big big thanks, guys!

Lacey is responsible for 80% of the photos in this blog. Or, if we ask Flickr, that’s more than 13,000 photos. Yes, Lacey was an overworked camera. Maybe she just grew really ‘tired.’ At first, Lacey’s autoflash stopped working. Then, the menu joystick wouldn’t function well. And later, the power switch just became too loose that sometimes the camera would turn off when I touch the shutter button. Eventually, the camera charger also stopped working. I have visited almost all Kodak camera stores here in Cebu and since the camera is a very old model, I couldn’t find the charger that I needed. By the way, I would like to apologize to those who helped buy the camera for what had happened. I am very sorry, guys!

Last year, Sir Fred, our friend from SSC-Cebu came home with digital cameras. I was one of those who received a Sony Cyber-Shot from him. Thank you, Sir Fred! And as you all know, this is the same camera that I’ve been using. It’s called Sonny. Hehe.

Last week, while having dinner, a very good friend from college asked if I would be taking pictures during the Sinulog. I told her that I would be there and she asked if I was interested in ‘borrowing’ a DSLR camera for a small fee. She knows someone in her office who might let me borrow. I readily agreed. However, when she contacted that person, the guy said that he’d be using it during the Sinulog as well. So, that plan was scrapped. Then, she suggested that I buy my own DSLR camera. I said that it was impossible because I couldn’t afford it right now. I couldn’t remember what we talked about next. All I know is that before dinner was over, we’ve decided on a deal:  She’d buy me a camera and I’d have to pay her in a year. The monthly rate is a bit steep but I know I’ve been wanting to own a DSLR camera for the longest time. And I know opportunities like this do not come often. So, yeah, I’ll think about the monthly fee when the bill comes. Hehehe. So, here it is. My new DSLR camera. A Nikon D5000. It’s just an entry-level camera (which is very good because I don’t know a thing about DSLR cameras) but I think it looks awesome. Don’t you agree?

I hope that I’ll be able to take better pictures using this camera. What should we call it? Santy (for Santo Niño) sounds nice. What do you think? Hehe.

Salamat ninyo tanan for always visiting my blog. And more importantly, salamat kaayo Santo Niño sa tanang grasya. Viva Pit Senyor!

Pay Bisdak!
