After I returned to the Philippines from my work assignments abroad, I immediately got back to watch I love the most – traveling. And you know what I do when I travel — noticing the new things, taking a photo (or video) of them, and letting all of you guys know.
So, for the twenty-third (23rd, can you believe it?) edition of Cebu Updates, you will see updates from within Cebu City to as far as Moalboal (because I visited the town over the weekend. π
So, enough talk! Here are some of the new things in Cebu!
One year after SM Seaside City Cebu opened, the central tower still remained off-limits to the public. I’m not sure if this is due to construction work or if it’s related to some legal issues with the city. Because, you know, SM and the CIty Hall has a much-publicized misunderstanding about certain issues pertaining to the SRP.
FilInvest’s IL CORSO is near completion. And by completion, I’m saying it’s really almost complete. Can’t wait to see what makes this new lifestyle destination different from all the others.
The Mahiga Creek has been cleared of illegal settlers and major dredging works and diggings have been done. The river banks have also been replaced with solid slabs of concrete.
Behind SM City Cebu (in front of SM Northwing,) a new building (which appears to be a high-rise) is steadily rising. The name of the place is Grand Tower Cebu.
The Sundance Residences in Banawa has been completed. The tenants will probably move in anytime soon.
This surprise project is located across the SSS building along OsmeΓ±a boulevard. This building now stands on the location of the old funeral home beside Landbank (beside the Sto. Rosario Church.)
Traffic is expected to be extremely ‘crazy’ in the coming months as the new Mambaling underpass is being constructed.
The City of Naga opened their new public Olympic-size swimming pool.
Locals only need to pay 40 pesos which Non-Nagahanons have to shell out PhP 50 each.
The Fuente Christmas tree is slowly taking shape!
A new mall is rising right next to EMall in downtown Cebu. Who’s excited for CityMall Bacalso?
The construction of the new Cebu City Medical Center building is in full swing. I heard in the news that work will end on the 7th floor of the building.
At the very heart of the Cebu Park (remember that big spot where everyone used to have mini picnics?) will soon become a new dinning/lifestyle destination. The strip (possibly an extension of The Walk) is opening soon!
The ‘walls’ of the Simala compound have finally been completed.
Also, there’s a huge pond at the center of the whole property now.
Looks lovely doesn’t it?
The Cebu IT Park is getting denser by the minute. Pictured are the HM Tower and the Skyrise 4 building.
Boljoon town’s once gorgeous town plaza is no longer existent. The town has opted for a simpler and more practical solution.
The BPI Corporate Tower right in front of the Cebu Business Park (fronting Archbishop Reyes) has been topped-off.
Moalboal’s new mall Gaisano Town Center – Moalboal is now open!
Boljoon’s Ili Rock Viewing Deck has been temporarily closed due to more diggings and repair works.
The Mabuhay Tower (right next to The Walk) at the Cebu IT Park has been topped off and is nearing completion!
Moalboal has a gorgeous seaside plaza. This is not new. I just happened to discover this just recently. π
Carcar City is building a new city center away from the main highway and they have built a new city hall, too!
Closer look. Their new pink city hall looks pretty.
The Central Bloc (Ayala’s second mall which will be located at the Cebu IT Park) is growing fast.
And last but not the least, Naga City has just recently opened their beautiful marine boardwalk. Good job, Naga!
