Hello, guys! I hope that you are all well, healthy, and excited for another edition of Cebu Construction Updates. Today, I’m going to share with you a couple of developments that I got last month. I got them before the city was placed under the Enhanced Community Quarantine and I was actually set to post them in March. However, things got pretty hectic (with all the mass hysteria and preparations happening all over the world) days before the ‘lockdown’, I wasn’t able to do it.
So, today, since I got plenty of time (yes, work has been suspended until further notice), let me share with you guys some ‘nice’ news about our beloved Cebu. Let’s begin!
Cebu City Construction Updates
Let us begin with this multi-story structure rising across the University of Southern Philippines campus in Lahug. I’m guessing that this is a hotel (as the area is also occupied by a hotel.)
The Mantawi Drive in Mandaue City is fast becoming the city’s most important dining district. In fact, several new restaurants are now rising in the area (beside City Times Square – Mandaue and across the Chong Hua Hospital) including this one called Doris Diner.
A multi-billion peso development is also rising fast in Mandaue City. This lifestyle development across the North Bus Terminal called Gatewalk Central will have a mall, a hotel, and other amenities.
The area surrounding SM City Cebu is also quite busy these past few months. Directly behind the mall is this gigantic high-rise development called the Grand Tower Cebu.
A few blocks away, behind Robinsons Galleria Cebu, a row of lifestyle developments (including condominium towers) are also rising fast.
And across the street, Benedicto College has just completed its new 8-storey building.
At the Cebu Business Park, several projects are currently being completed. This one is located right next to the QBE building along the Samar Loop.
This condominium project called The Flats, can be seen next to the Hipodromo exit.
At the Cebu IT Park, the 38 Park Avenue tower is slowly taking shape.
The very controversial Cebu City Medical Center still hasn’t been completed yet. Hopefully it will open soon.
In Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Newtown by Megaworld Corporation is super busy. Rows of high-rises are now rising in this district.

Savoy Hotel by Megaworld is a great addition to the area’s already prominent line-up of high-end hotels.
In Barangay Mactan, just across the Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa entrance, a small but nice strip had just opened.
Lapu-Lapu City is also ultra busy lately because of all the widening, clearing, and expansion projects.
Several houses along the road have been demolished especially in areas where traffic can become unbearable during peak hours.
The Orion Tower along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City has been topped off.

And work has began on the Astra tower just across the Oakridge Business Park in Banilad.
A few blocks away, Midpoint Residences Tower 2 will soon be topped off.
