Touring Robinsons Galleria Cebu

Less than two weeks after SM opened in Cebu one of the biggest malls in the Philippines, Robinsons followed suit. They opened the much-talked-about Robinsons Galleria Cebu. Like SM Seaside City at the South Road Properties, Galleria is also massive. In fact, Galleria Cebu is considered Robinsons’ biggest mall outside the capital. Although the two malls are similar in so many ways, it looks like Galleria is headed in an entirely different direction.

Check out these photos I took before and during the grand opening of Robinsons Galleria Cebu. Also, find out why I think Robinsons Galleria is in a league of its own.

Preview of Robinsons Galleria Cebu

December 9, 2015. One day before the grand opening.

A day before Robinsons Galleria Cebu officially opened to the public, I was able to join the preview walk. The preview was for a small group of people. It was composed of members of the local press and SkyScraperCity-Cebu.

Exterior

The preview tour gave us a chance to explore the mall (minus the crowd) and learn some important facts about it.

The mall has several entry and exit points. The main entrance is this one facing General Maxilom Avenue.

Also facing General Maxilom Avenue is this row of restaurants. This row is separate from the main mall. In fact, each one can be accessed (has separate doors) even without going to the main mall.

This photo shows a vehicle exiting the basement parking of the mall. The ramp is parallel to both the mall driveway and General Maxilom Avenue.

Right next to the harbor entrance is this three-story green wall.

Interior

Interior of Robinsons Galleria Cebu. Notice the use of earth tones.

Galleria’s interiors use colors and materials that aren’t usually used in most malls. Unlike most Philippine malls, the floor is not plain white.

Galleria’s overall look is also different due to the presence of these tall trees and pocket gardens.

A pocket of greens can be seen in various parts of the mall.

The main atrium of Robinsons Galleria is pretty massive.

A network of escalators can be found at the main atrium. They allow shoppers to access all four different floors easily from the main entrance.

One of the prettiest features of the mall is its ‘green pillars.’ They are covered with green leaves (they’re not real, though.)

In the middle of the atrium is a giant Cebu icon — a guitar.

The giant ‘flower’ guitar as seen from the second floor of the mall.

The mall has wide walkways so there is no need to walk sideways even when it gets really busy.

Everything about the mall is lovely. Even the access stairwells are well made.

The top floor of the mall is where the DigiWorld, Food Court, and Cinemas are located.

Robinsons Movieworld

Robinsons MovieWorld looks really chic and fun.

The cinema hallway, which looks very lovely, has a modern, futuristic feel.

And the movie theaters were especially beautiful, too.

Food Court

The Food Court is massive and offers an amazing view of the harbor.

The restrooms are very clean, well-designed, and pretty spacious.

The use of dark marble tiles and wood make the restroom look really elegant.

They even have a corner for kids — complete with a kiddie urinal and a low sink.

This is what the back of the beautiful green wall looks like. The green wall is part of Galleria’s Verandah. I’m guessing this is their version of Ayala’s Terraces. This will mostly be occupied by restaurants and food shops.

Definitely one of the best-looking mall basement parking areas I’ve seen in recent years.

They have ample space for motorbikes, too. Which is always a good thing.

Robinsons Selections Preview

December 10, 2015. Robinsons Selections Media Tour

Robinsons Selections is Robinsons Supermarket Corporation’s premium grocery brand. Aside from the grocery section, the supermarket also has a flower shop, a bakery, and a food-to-go bar. Additionally, it has a fruit bar, a salad bar, and even a sushi bar.

The Health and Wellness Aisle carries both local and international health brands.

Selections also sells both local and imported frozen food and meat.

A walkalator gives shoppers easy access to the basement parking area.

Robinsons Galleria Cebu Grand Opening

December 10, 2015. Grand Opening

Mall-goers excited to check out the new Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

Outside the separate Robinsons Selections entrance, shoppers wait patiently for the opening of the doors.

The gang is ready.

Finally, it’s time. Welcoming Robinsons Galleria Cebu’s very first customers.

Robinsons Selections is now open, too!

That guy in blue’s reaction says it all! 🙂

Have you been to Robinsons Galleria Cebu? What do you think of this new mall?

  1. Is this really the previous one at cnr F.Ramos/Mango Ave.? It has a striking similarity to the original Robinson’s of the 70’s or 80’s,only nicer! (The latest one replaced by this “new” one now was a sad replacement of the original, unfortunately, and should have been replaced much, much sooner! Can’t wait to visit Cebu (my hometown) again!

    1. Nope sir. The old Robinsons in Fuente is still open. This is a new one. It’s right next to the old White Gold building. 🙂

  2. Deu 31:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; …

1 Ki 2:10 So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers,

Acts 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: …

(Note that David, though sleeping with his fathers (dead), is not ascended into heaven. He is still in his grave.)

1 Ki 11:43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

2 Sam 7:12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

  3. This looks very nice, I’ve been watching its quiet progress over the years. I was in Cebu fir the opening of Seaside which is of no comparison to this, though I do look forward to visiting Galleria when I return next week. I understand there is 10 screens? plus the new ones at Seaside thats alot of new screens. Its very rare I ever have seen a “crowd” at a movie in Cebu, I guess it will be rarer still. Theres nothing wrong with Robinson’s Fuente.
