This was presented by Sir Nigel Villarete during the BRT Seminar in Taptap a few weeks ago. I, however, was not able to get a copy of the photo. So, I would like to thank guys of SSC-Cebu for finally posting it.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is what you should expect – when and if the Cebu City BRT proposal is given a go signal.
What do you think?

Dedicated BRT bus lanes in Jones Avenue.

No jeepneys! (edited by @corcern!)

Nindota ana kong mahitabo kay mura naman ug mini singapore and osmena blvd.
yup. nindot gyud tan-awon…
so tanan nga rota sa cebu covered ani ley? or just several route in the city?
I hope BRT will be imposed soon, it’s more logical for the city. Good luck, Cebu!
yeah. hinaut unta. 🙂
love it!!!!!!!
🙂
yup. pwede on grade. pwede above grade pud ang pedestrian. most likely above grade gyud ni. sumpay sa skywalk. 🙂
Paytera! Good looks + less travel time. That’s what we look forward to.
Good project,
Rock on Cebu…
Looks really neat in the pics with or without the jeepneys. I join sa concern ni Ms. Luisa of USA.
If so, unsa gyod diay proposal para ma-address kining possible problem?
He, he, he. Muni-muni lang ni.
thanks @sir Rex. these are genuine concerns. during the seminar, participants were encouraged to ask questions regarding the system. so, thanks for the questions. hehe.
access to the stations can either be on-grade (ground level), above grade (skywalkways), and below grade (subway). Subway is currently out of the picture because it’s very expensive. On grade can be implemented in areas which are not major loading/unloading districts. Siguro, kung naay station sa may cebu doc hospital dapit, on grade gyud na siya most probably.. In areas where traffic flow of private vehicles is heavy, i think, necessary na gyud nga above grade. Similar na ni nga concept used sa LRT/MRT. included sa proposal ang escalators and elevators for those nga maglisod ug saka-kanaog. giconsider ni kay daghan magreklamo sa platforms sa LRT sa manila nga taas kaayo ang sak-unon. hehe.
re: crimes. each carrier/bus will be equipped with GPS as well as necessary communications devices. kung naay criminal, dili maka sayon2x ug ikyas ang criminal kay unlike sa jeep, usa ra ang kanaugan ug sakyan sa tanan. also, the dedicated buslanes can be used for emergency purposes. the lane can even be used by ambulances and firetrucks. of course, with coordination and go signal from the brt control rooms manning the moving carriers/ intersections/traffic flow.
Ok, very nice. Kung ipaagi ni sa botohan, my vote is for BRT.
wish the BRT will finally be approved- i was really all for it for cebu city and for future linkages with sister cities. light for budget, easy maintenance, and less cumbersome. for the skywalk/up grade, there shld be escalator and stairs like here in our place and in some select stations have wheel chair lanes-tho we also have LRT. My only wish for the city administrator are: 1) keep all the stations free of scalawags, rugby boys, vagrants, hawkers, vandals and unwanted pipol. 2) should have a reasonable yearly budget for upkeep of the units, maintenance on cleanliness and orderly of the environment. all ‘folks’ should also contribute and help maintain sanity, orderly and cleanliness-walay ihiay bisag asa og wala sad ang mga graffiti.
murag ang BRT.. same … nice kaayo din kung mo palit ka ticket diri pwede whole day ticket or return ticket…,….. hope ma tuman na…
nice ni! pero dako man kaayo ug space mukaon ang bus(per photo above at two lanes) plus 3 + 3 lanes(to and from) gamay kaayo oi! fit ra for one bus ang current planter island karon oi!
unsa nalang sab inig sinulog (though onece a year ra)..
i am still in favor of trains/rails
check this out>> http://blog.miragestudio7.com/wp-content/uploads2/2008/04/bukit_bintang_train_lrt_monorail.jpg
we can have the brt like scheme sans jeepney on the current 3+3 lanes. 2+2 for private and taxi (taxis must have stands as well) plus 1+1 on brt (similar to bus stops in singapore)
for me both (expensive or not). there’s nothing expensive if the government wants it orderly, organized, modern and would benefit the cebuanos. in the long run we all can value it and maybe take pride of it.. cebu:similar to singapore/hongkong/taiwan
the monorail/lrt/mrt is gorgeous. but too expensive. the national govenment is spending tons for the upkeep of the mrt. and now, lugi na gani. kung computon gud para mabawi, dapat ang fare sa mrt kay 60 pesos na.
brt is currently the most viable and most practical choice.
can’t wait to see a more systematic public transpo system for cebu. i wish there is a metro from south to north, afterall gamay ra ang cebu. just don’t know how feasible this is mahal naman gani KMK bus w/aircon.
a thought though, why not impose high taxes on vehicles to control the number of cars on the street. i know in europe they have road taxes. better transport policy and transport system than building more roads to alleviate traffic congestion.
very neat…nice jud ta sya… spacious sd ang lugar.
Sa pagkakaron gud kay mura 25 percent up but 75 percent is heading down.
opps…waaaaaaaaaaaa….kulang man akong post…asa man ang uban?
Maayo manto sila kay wla man guro silay mga squatters sa kilid2x, wlay mga beggars ug mga basura sa mga kadalanan…wish ko lang sana mao ni dapat iprioritize sa atong gobyerno…more work, housing and educate the people. wow! this looks like a very big development if this will be pushed through. i think makuha-kuhaan ang mga jeepneys nga mao jud nkadala ug trafic bcoz of the mga GAGO nga drivers!
