There are plenty of maps of singapore and brochures detailing recommended activities, sights to see while in Singapore at the immigration counter.

Aug. 30, morning — On board Bus 32 bound for Bugis train station. We hoped to catch the 9:00 a.m. train for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia…

On board same bus. Some street sights… River Valley road is where our INN [fernloft city inn was located].

We missed the train for KL, which left at 8:40.. We decided to get breakfast at one of the first “carenderia-like” establishment we found… The photo below is a kind of fried rice which was sweetened by the juices of a “humba-like” dish. The “humba-like” dish was sold separately, but was just placed on top of the rice..

Coffee been at One Fullerton. This is right across the Merlion Park
left: penne in spicy tuna sauce |right: roast turkey sandwich

Satchmo sitting on a coffee bean menu, waiting for the rain to stop so we can approach the merlion up close.

I went to this stone statue facing One Fullerton which explains the significance of the merlion… Satchmo is holding a 50-cent singaporean coin.

Braving the drizzle… The merlion upclose.

After we left the merlion park, we went to the asian civilization museum. At that time there was an exhibition called “Hunters and Collectors: The Origins of the Southeast Asian Collection.” The buddha was one of the many on display at the exhibition… We only chanced upon this place and luckily they had free admission at that time. There were lotsa nice pieces there from southeast asian countries…clothes, gold, ceramics, weapons among other things. Unfortunately, both our cameras went low batt on us. We stayed here for an hour or so because of the nice displays. http://www.acm.org.sg/exhibitions/eventdetail.asp?eventID=522

Part of the activities at the museum on that day. Little kids demonstrating some martial arts that originated in southeast asia…

At the night safari… This was at the night safari’s souvenir shop. The place was jampacked with tourists looking at and buying little trinkets…The ref magnet i bought here cost me $6.90, but can be bought for a dollar or two sa chinatown.

Inside a cable car going to singapore’s mount faber, which is actually just a hill. Here, one will get a good view of the city.
