I know it’s super late but I’m doing it! I just couldn’t move on knowing that these photos I took of Señor Santo Niño would just remain hidden. The drum beats may have long faded but the echoes of faith still linger. And this is exactly why I will be sharing with you these images anyway.
In January, as part of their annual Sinulog activities, Ayala Center Cebu held an exhibit of different Santo Nino images. It wasn’t just a display of statues; it was a journey through time, traditions, and the ever-changing expressions of Cebuano faith. The exhibit featured dozens of images of the Holy Child; each one coming from different families, communities, and organizations in Cebu. Some of them may look the same but every single Señor Santo Niño image whispers stories of different eras, influences, and experiences.
Images of Señor Santo Niño
Take a look at the different images of Santo Nino de Cebu – from ivory to wood and colonial to modern. The image is the lasting symbol of faith, love, and devotion of the Cebuanos.
Even though the Sinulog is over, the lessons of the “faces” of the Niño remain. They remind us of the power of faith, the beauty of diversity, and the connection that binds us to HIM. Pit Senyor, Cebu!
