MCPB - Sinulog SSK Dakbayan

Sinulog sa Dakbayan 2024

Cebuanos were treated to a preview of the exciting Sinulog Grand Parade performances via the Sinulog sa Dakbayan 2024 competition. The event, divided into two categories, is basically held a week before the feast to choose the best groups that will be able to compete at the grand parade.

Originally, only students from Cebu schools joined the competitions. This year, however, performers from the barangays (for Dakbayan) and municipalities/cities (for Lalawigan) and not from local public schools made up the contingents.

For this reason, the event was simply called Sinulog sa Dakbayan 2024 instead of Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan 2024.

Take a look at some scenes from the well-attended competition held exactly 8 days before Sinulog Sunday.

Cebu City Michael Mike Rama officially opened the event with a fun welcome speech.

Later, Vice Mayor Raymond Garcia joined Mayor Mike Rama on stage.

Next to perform was the group from Barangay Binaliw.

The contingent was well-liked for their fun routine.

Next to perform was the contingent from Barangay San Roque. Many thought that this group would win the top prize, including me.

The show must go on for Barangay Sapangdaku despite the sudden downpour.

The long event ended with the singing (and dancing) of the popular city theme I Love Cebu!

Here is a clearer view of the massive attendance at the grandstand even when the show was already ending.
