Last January 10, 2019, the annual Walk with Jesus solemn dawn procession was held. The Walk with Jesus dawn procession is a yearly event that marks the official start of the Sinulog season in Cebu. Days prior to this event, the image of Senor Santo Nino de Cebu ‘visits’ various churches in the city as well as institutions like the CPDRC and the BBRC. A day before the dawn procession, the image makes a final stop at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Church in Barangay Guadalupe where an overnight vigil is held for the image.
Finally, at three in the morning, the image, together with the image of the Our Lady of Guadalupe, is paraded through the streets of Guadalupe towards Fuente Osmena where the Walk with Jesus officially starts.
As usual, I woke up really early to witness this yearly event. I left the house at around 2:45 and went straight to my favorite spot . I thought that I was a bit too early. However, when I arrived at the Abellana National High School skywalk, I was surprised to see that it was already swarming with photographers and videographers. Thankfully, one guy left and decided to transfer to a different location and I was able to stay in his spot.
At around 3:30 am, the head of the procession arrived at our location and the ocean of lights didn’t stop for at least an hour.
Here is a time lapse video of the procession that I took immediately after the carro of the Senyor Santo Nino passed underneath us. Take a look.
Pit Senyor, everyone!
