Two weeks ago, a friend asked me if I wanted to tag along. She (and a few other officemates) needed to go to Medellin for an out-of-town work-related stuff. I’ve never been to Medellin so I didn’t say no.
The town of Medellin is a second class municipality with a population of around 50 thousand. The town proper is approximately 140 kilometers from Cebu City. From Bogo, just before entering the municipality of San Remigio, make a right and just keep driving towards the direction of Daanbantayan. You know you’ve reached Medellin when you see a big acacia tree near a sharp curve in a barangay called Curva.
Who knew Medellin had this? Awesome!
The ‘work-related activity’ ended just before three in the afternoon. So, instead of going straight home, we decided to check out the awesome spots in Medellin. I tell you, Medellin looks a little too quiet from the main road. But once you decide to stop by and get to know it a little more, you’ll discover that it indeed has a lot to offer.
Finally, after a short drive, we were close.
Medellin Hideaway is basically a beach resort. What sets it apart from all other resorts in the area is the long ‘boardwalk’ which connects a small island to the mainland.
The resort doesn’t really have a ‘beach’ like most resorts in the northern tip of Cebu which have rocky beaches.
This ‘pool’ is perfect for those who are too afraid to swim in the open water.
The small huts sitting on these rocky islets look so refreshing.
First look at the long boardwalk. Pretty lovely.
Apart from the expected creaks and cracks, it looked quite stable.
I don’t know how long the boardwalk is, but I guess it’s around two hundred meters or so.

Next, we checked out the zip line in Barangay Caputatan.
Zipline fee: ONLY Php50.00. Wow!
They also have a cable car. Nice!

This coconut tree-lined road looks very lovely from above.
They call this the Tarzan Jump. It’s basically just a huge swing. But of course, when you see how far below the ground is, it just isn’t a normal swing anymore. Hahaha.

I’ll definitely come back because we weren’t able to go to the very controversial Gibitngil island.

dili ra man mahal Desiree. ang zipline tag 50 ra gud to. not sure pila nay plite sa bus karon. but around 150 tingali one way. entrance sa hideaway mga less than 50 ra sad.
ahhh, ok. but how about for the boat going back & forth to the island, unsa siya pakyaw? how much sad? i’ve been planning to go there mn gud this year. hehehe. wala ba nadaot ang boardwalk sa medillen after the Yolanda?
nahulog ug pakyaw style gyud siya. murag 1500 man tingali tong boat among gisakyan. basta mga ingon ana ang rate. hehe.
lovely medellin! my late dad used to go there a lot for his haciendero clients. i like the cable car. 🙂

Medellin eco-adventure (zipline, cable car, and more) are located in Brgy. Caputatan. 😛 Been on a solo trip in this town early this year. Same here, I wasn’t able to checked out the controversial Gitbingil Island.

never heard of Medellin in Cebu, until i read this blog. i find it interesting and exciting to go there.. and to experience walking in that 200 meter bamboo board walk.

They say you’ve never gone to Medellin if you haven’t set forth Funtastic island (in barangay Gibitngil). It’s simply awesome! I’ve heard Senator Trillanes went there after seeing it at the internet

Feb.4 we pass by Medellin goin to Daan Bantayan in the aircon Seres Bus. A 3hrs comfy ride fr Carmen. Stay for 2hrs looking around and shop some dried fish. What we observe about Medellin is not mountainous.

We went sa Hideaway recently, mao diay porma ani sauna. colorful na kaayo karon. Asa na dapit ang Zipline? nindot lage na. 🙂
