An Afternoon In Luyang, Carmen

Last Friday (holiday, yey!), I woke up just a few minutes before noon. I checked my phone and I found out that I had two unread messages and four missed calls. They were all from Harry. He’d been trying to contact me to tell me that they (together with Randy, Randy’s niece Motty, and Randy’s two dogs) were going to Baranggay Luyang in Carmen for a quick swim. He wanted to know if I wanted to come. I texted Harry right away and hoped that it wasn’t too late. Fortunately, Harry replied that they were still getting ready. Thank God!

So, yeah, here are some of my shots of the lovely beach in Baranggay Luyang in the town of Carmen. For those of you who’ve been following this blog, Luyang is the home of one of this site’s most active visitors – Inday Myrna. Hehehehe. I remember she told me about this place ages ago but I just didn’t have the time to check it out. Anyways, here it is, the gorgeous Luyang Beach! This one’s for you, Mam Inday! 🙂

Luyang Beach! Awesome!

Long walk to that little area where the cottages were. That’s Harry with Chooks-To-Go chicken (very yummy!!!!!), lechon, and some drinks.

That white structure is the beach house (according to locals) of a German national. Very pretty.

Almost there! Lovely place!

View of the coast of Carmen and Catmon. KM 47 Hinagdanan Resort is there somewhere.

While Randy and Harry returned to the van to grab a few more stuff, I busied myself taking more photos. Hehehe.

Coconut!

The area where the cottages were. I heard that the cottages were for rent but there was no one around. We asked the locals who were swimming nearby and they said that there would be no problem if we stayed in one of the cottages. They were so nice.

Ahhh. So peaceful. I love the place!

MCPB!

Motty. Hehehe.

Motty was joined by Randy’s two gorgeous golden retrievers. That guy facing the camera is Gaudi. And that lady next to him is Asyah. They’re really good swimmers.

At last, they’re here!

Now, let’s eat! Hehehe.

After our very very very late (but awesome) lunch, it was time to swim! Asyah and Gaudi also played frisbee on the beach.

Gorgeous view.

Low tide. We spent the rest of the afternoon just swimming and talking about random stuff. Really relaxing.

Asyah was quite disappointed when she learned that it was time to go. Hahaha.

Harry playing with the dogs. LOL.

We left for the city just before seven pm. Harry and Randy were busy debating about the Gloria Diaz controversy while I was trying my darn best not to puke. LOL. A travel blogger who has motion sickness. Very nice! Hahaha.

It was a very relaxing trip. I would surely love to go back one of these days.

  1. Thank you for posting this. It brings back wonderful memories of Luyang. Those cottages, If I’m not mistaken, are owned by my cousin Tiro-Zarraga family. When I was a little girl, we used to drive from Mandaue to Luyang for a picnic and swimming with my family.
Now, each time I visit Philippines, I make sure I visit the place.

  2. My family used to go to Carmen and visit a lot when I was growing up. I have fond memories of going there and visiting with relatives. My cousiins (Camara + Villamor) have a beach house in Luyang and we would stay there all day before heading back to Guinsay to stay at my grandparents house for the weekend. I love to collect seashells on the shore. Didn’t care too much for going into the water ’cause too many rocks with sisi and boy do they hurt when you get all those cuts in your talampakan! Thank you for this post 🙂

  3. My type of beach… quiet! 🙂
I used to get carsick too… just look out the window & lower it for some fresh air, that was my remedy.

  4. hello!

it is a nice beach but regretfully suffering from the sickness of third world countries: dirt, basura, neglect.

i would like to ask some different question. did you visit malapascua island, if so, i would appreciate to see some pictures

    best greetings from germany!

  5. Yeahhhhh, finally you,ve been to Luyang. Thanks so much sa inyo; Harry, Randy, Motty, Gaudi, Asyah and of course Leyland. Im so surprise and delighted. And im telling my sister right now, they’ve been to Luyang2x.
Ley, feel nako na pinangga ko nimo as you dedicate this to me. I feel special sa totoo lang.
Nong Inting is looking after the cottages. Sana nagkataon na nandyan sya pra picture2x din. The golden retrievers are so friendly and lovely. I used to pick up firewoods under that coconut trees. Just bring whiteflower Ley for your travel sickness, lol. Lovely taken photo’s and thanks again for your time to visit LUYANG.

  6. ley, thanks for sharing love the place!

…… to everyone out there, my country, my homeland esp. CEBU might be suffering from “sickness of third world countries”-dirt, basura, neglect” WE filipinos are the most loving, caring and hospitable individual you will ever met in your life….WE filipinos pride ourselves with rich culture and tradition!

  7. To Hassan who’s “regretfully suffering from the sickness of third world countries: dirt, basura, neglect”…AGAY, IT HURTS!
Why are you still interested to see photos of Malapascua?
You’re not welcome to Cebu unless you can at least pick up 1 basura when you visit.

    1. I’ve been reading comment i guess too many times but i still don’t get why you had to say something like that to him. I guess the guy got it wrong thinking that the beach looks dirty but that doesn’t change the fact that we are a third world country that is “regretfully siffering”… it’s alright to welcome a foreigner’s honest comment because there’s always a room for change — a change for the better. And oh, saying “You’re not welcome to Cebu unless you can at least pick up 1 basura when you visit..” is just mean.

      1. Ok then, let’s welcome the “foreigner’s honest comment”. However if it is the beach that we are talking about, I don’t see any signs that it is “suffering from the sickness of third world countries: dirt, basura, neglect.” I saw only a few dried twigs, some fallen coconuts and husks, maybe an out of place growth of vine and grass which are just artistic litters of Nature normally found in every raw beach. And they can’t even harm the environment.

On another perspective, perhaps he may have meant to regret of the sickness brought by their dirt, basura and neglect that they dumped on us which they labeled as a third world country. These sir, are the ones that they should pick up and take back.

  8. This cottage is a walking distance from our place. Last July were bonding here w/ my cousins from Manila. They enjoy a lot. Nice photo’s Ley. We like the dogs, baka naa moy puppy ana, pahingi.
