Visiting Boggart

Last weekend, I was able to return to the Cebu City Zoo with my family. We were so excited because of two reasons: 1) it was our first visit since the zoo’s management overhaul some months ago, and 2) because it was EA’s first zoo visit! EA, as you may already know, is my cousin’s young kid. Anyways, during the visit, I discovered something really  interesting. The new zoo manager, Giovanni Stephen Romarate, was, in fact, my second-degree cousin! Haha. So, instead of a short walk-through, we ended up with a guided tour with some insider/expert information about the zoo and the animals. Very nice! Hehehehe. Also, we were able to touch the resident superstar Boggart the Bengal Tiger. It was a great great visit! 🙂

A nice little grotto.

I noticed there were more visitors this time.

Portalet. Thank goodness! Hehehe.

A nice looking pheasant.

He’s an emotional eater. Hehehe.

A fiesty cat from Malaysia.

Very cute rooster.

Sheep and goats.

A golden leopard.

It was donated by Mayor Osmeña.

A rooster with really weird feathers. Hehehe.

A cute owl.

This one is interesting. This is a 70-year old parrot. It is being watched closely because of its broken beak and falling feathers.

Eating rice. Hehehe.

What are you looking at?

Here’s EA. He looks like he’s having a fun time. Hehehe.

Satchmo chit-chatting with a nice big white bird.

The sign read – Guinea Fowl

Satchmo and a nice little monkey.

The zo0 manager with a crocodile.

Any volunteers?

Boggart!

Thirsty?

He’s so huge!

Looking really nice.

Love this shot!

    1. thanks ley for the extra shot of BBRC. let’s not forget that bbrc is somewhat like a “human zoo”. the only difference is animals in zoos are treated better than people inside in this “human zoo”. remember it’s just a wall of cement that separates us from our brods and sisters detained inside this prison cause they made some wrong decisions in their lives or whatever the case maybe. who knows one day, God forbid, we’ll be the one looking outside from this hell on earth watching the cebu city zoo from afar?

  1. Hi ley asa man diay ang zoo located?
Ang ‘Zoo Rules’ ba, missing man ang no. 10…ibutang na lang unta BE KIND TO ANIMALS….hehehe.
thanks for posting it… another tourist attraction.

  2. I just love to see a well-maintained zoo, happy animals & happy people! 🙂 Good that you & your beautiful family had a great time there. Thanks!

  3. Zoo’s are nice but I will feel sad about animals in a cage, especially the big ones like Boggart who can’t really run/jump around. *sigh

  4. Sir, im so glad you shared this to me. These animal, though captive ni sila, they deserve to be treated and cared of gyd. di sila angay mo agi usab atong ilang na experience before. thanks for sharing sir.more power.

      1. dili noon..hehehe…imo man gud mga kuyog sa litrato kay mga taga CYPA then for sure imo na relatives…taga EYHA d i ko

  5. asa man ang location sa CEBU ZOO, i have been Cebu but i have no idea may CEBU ZOO, gusto ko muadto and see the place

  6. its nice to see the cebu zoo up and running nicely but i think the animals need more care like boggart. gamay kaayo iyang tangkal. too small for an animal of that size and kind. i bet he’s depressed.

Dapat seeds, nuts, and fruits ila guipakaon dili kay kan-on. Mao nga nanga tang tang na iyang balahibo.

  9. The old parrot is malnourished. Rice is not enough to keep it healthy. It needs seeds, nuts vegetables and fruit. The feather are falling out because it needs vitamins and protein. A bird veterinarian should be consulted.
