I returned to Hidden Paradise Mountain Resort in San Fernando last Sunday together with the members of SSC-Cebu* for an important activity (secret usa. LOL). We met at 9 am and at ten, we went to the South Bus Terminal to catch our ride. We knew that the terminal was undergoing some renovation but we didn’t expect that it would look awesome. Although there are still a lot of things to be improved, I must say that the new Cebu South Bus Terminal is like no other. In fact, our initial reaction was – ‘Terminal ni or airport?’ Hehehe.

So, what are the major changes? Let’s list them down:
- Terminal fee upon entry (Php5.00)
- Free entrance for minors and senior citizens
- One ticketing counter for all destinations
- Flat screen TVs in waiting areas
- Air-conditioned waiting lounge
- Clean restrooms
- Food outlets and snack bars
- Souvenir shops
- Announcement of arrival and departure through paging system
- Dedicated boarding ‘gates’ for different routes/destinations

Wow, nahuman na diay ang South Bus terminal? When I was there last June, under renovation pa to but even then I already commented that it looks like this is going to be an awesome place,,,, and indeed it is,, Oh how I love Cebu…world class, hope the roads (there are still a few stretches that needs upgrading)and other related infrastructures follow suit….

Just finished watching the video, english speaking lage ang mo announce, unta Cebuano dialect pod aside from English kay mao baya atong naandan unya naa pa baya sad maglisod ug kasabot sa iningles.

Hehehe. I agree. Pero I think para makasabot pud ba ang dili taga Cebu. Basin tingali mao pud na ilang gipangandaman ba. Especialy sa mga foreigners nga manakay sa bus. Naa man pud guide nga magbarong sa may gate nga maoy muupdate kung unsang bus padung mularga. So, makasabot ra gihapon ang mga dili kasabot ug English. hehe
Ah ok Ley, both languages jud unta in my opinion, parehas ba sa mga international airline companies nga naay language sa lugar nga tugpahan, naay pakapin tagalog basta sa pinas na tugpa. I would appreciate if both english and cebuano languages will be used.

In as much as there are foreigners, mas daghan man pod siguro ang mga Bisdak at any given time of the day, makatabang ang Bisaya,,, It would also emphasize our pride as Bisayans.
I hope ma maintain ni nila and ma improve pa dyud…..sa ilang kita daily with the 5 peso per person, dako kaayo na matabang para pag improve sa facility…..

really cool and amazing..the last time i was at the south bus terminal was last jan ’09 but did’nt notice of such ongoing reno-maybe i was not minding nor did my brothers bother telling me. i noticed only that there was huge improvement compared in late 70’s, the last time i traveled down south-yak…. antigo na dyud. this is awesome. . regular upkeep is really required to preserve the beauty. vandals, pick pockets and hawkers must keep off from inside and out of the building and in the terminal yard.

Asa man dapita ang vendor sa tuba? The PA heard in the video did not include announcements in Cebuano. That’s a shame. Way class diay ning Cebuano nga language kay di na man pwede sa upscale nga environment. What happened to Cebuano pride?
Bitaw, nawala man ang maninda og tuba? Angay tingali nga tagaan sila ug libre nga stall nga mora pog fastfood ang service. Ang tindera moingon: Dayon kamo sa tubaan sa terminal. Ang tuba ibutang og dispenser ug isilbe in paper or plastic cups with napkin. He, he, he. That is to glorify and promote our Cebuano culture.

Kung maghisgot ta’g bus terminal ang kasagaran natong ma-imagine, nga hugaw, saba, kalandrakas lang, init – kasagaran negatibo gyod. Pero sa bag-ong South Bus Terminal, mausab gyod ang atong panglantaw. Pagkanindot!
Maayo unta ma-inspire ang uban ug ila sab panindoton ang North Bus Termina, and Citylink, ug ang tanang terminal.
BTW, nindot sab unta mausab ang atong negatibong perspective sa merkado sa? Sa Ozamiz ang ilang public market mura’g mall sa kanindot, kahapsay ug kahinlo (sauna hugaw kaayo). I’m sure Cebu can transform Carbon market more than what Ozamiz did.

when my bestfriend told me about the complete overhaul of the South Bus Terminal i had known all my life, i couldnt believe it…amazing! i think it is really clear that it’s Gov. Gwen’s advocacy to promote tourism and a step towards this is making the South bus Terminal more tourist-friendly, si ayaw namo kahibulong anang mag-iningles kay para ra gihapon nas atung probinsya! mas nindut sad baya kay aron maningkamot sad ni atung mga igsuon bah nga makat-on ug ininglis aron dili mahasi ug makig-estorya sa mga langyaw, di ba??? one way man sad na nga mulambo kita personally and as a nation…
Ang pag iningles ok ra pero dili nato himoon nga standard language sa PA. Sa sinultian pa.. ug tua ka sa Rome be a Roman (italian) pero ug sa Cebu ka then be it cebuano pud. Patas lang. So my suggestion is binisaya jud ang dapat gamiton pero dunay translation in english, being an international language.
Ug kugihan pa gyod, puede pod additional translation in tagalog… aron morag respeto sa mga taga luzon not that they don’t understand english but to show to the english speaking world na duna sa ‘tay love sa atong sinultian.
Dili ni mao ang lugar aron makat-on ang mga cebuano ug iningles.
Molambo ta kay mag iningles? Come on, hatagan nato ug pride ang atong lugar, mas ipalabi nato ang atong dialect kay mas daghan ang bisaya! Then sa mga non visayan speakers, ato sila hatagan ug posibilidad makasabot, mao hatagan natog iningles!

wow high tech na pala sila. Since i am driving motorcycle everyday. I have not notice this changes and it was nice that this terminal upgrade to a better facilities.

Much better then when I left in the end of August 2009 You just load and sweat in the bus as you waited for the bus driver to get aboard to get the bus running to take the wheel THat the way Cebu about time you finished the construction there and have a real updated Bus Terminal but I have been in the US where we have all these modern Terminals from airport to train Rail or to BUS or taxi gateways. thats the wat Cebu I love to visit there its a most beauiful in the world to see

my take:
i think they should start selling a frequency card similar to the one used sa LRT/MRT. they can like sell a 100-peso card for 90 pesos and make it useable for like 25 times.
it’d be more convenient. and the passengers get to save a little.
nice ang vision sa cebu ni Mayor Osmena, i hope dili namanaghan ug samot ang mga jeep, ang mga daan na kaayo, dili na tugtan ug larga. it’s better mag kalesa, bike, sa city living, instead mga jeep. just like sa NY, mga tour bus lang ang mag tuyok-tuyok sa city, ang public trasnpo kay train in subway.
the cleaner and organized ang Cebu, the more we can promote our city for tourist, and that means job.

hi wish to inform nga ang cebu south bus terminal bati nga pamaagi.makalangan sa pasahero kung nagdali ta, strikto pa gyud na ila mga staffs nga gipaasist sa mga pasahero, like sa experienced nku first tym ko miagi sa ila terminal if ever mag inquire ka motubag mn pro maldito gyud kun motubag, anyway dugay naman sad to hope nga magbutang sila staff nga dili strikto and strikta ky bati kaayo ang tract record.., not like sa negros terminal nice ayo cla moassist ug mo guide sa mga sama namo nga pasahero.
