Gabii Sa Kabilin 2009

This year’s Gabii Sa Kabilin was such a huge success. There were definitely more presentations and activities. And more importantly, there were a lot of guests. And I noticed that the participating museums really did their best to make the night memorable for all participants.

A friend gave me a pass so I was not able to pay 100 for the entrance fee. However, I had to pay Php 50 for the kalesa rides. Okay ra kay lingaw man sad. Hehehe.

A flyer distributed during an important local election. The flyer features a drawing of Leon Kilat’s assasination in Carcar. The note read: Voter: Before you vote for Minong Noel, remember what they did to Leon Kilat. Do not  disgrace the Filipino race.

This was one of the most amazing parts that evening. This was a Balitaw performed by a couple from Dumanjug. A balitaw is an impromptu debate laced with music. Yep, you got it right. They sing while they exchange harsh words, praises, petty insults, and flirtations. Hahaha. These guys were really awesome. I stayed in front of them while they were performing. It was my first time and I was just totally blown away. They used pure cebuano words while they debated about marriage, love, and many other random things.

Some of the guests called the lady in blue Donya Dionisia because she looked like Manny Pacquaio’s mom. Hehehe.

  2. My ancestors came from Parian and I was raise & grow up in Parian. I’m happy to be back with the Gabi i sa Kabilin using Parian address again with 2 musems in 1 barangay. I felt proud to come from there and proud to tour somebody from Mindanao which they never had that many museums which located near from each other telling them that there are other museums in the province to see and appreciate. I’m one of the Sugbuanon so proud enough to tell everyone that I came from historic Cebu modern in many ways of the modern world but also rich in it’s hstoric past.

  3. Gabii sa Kabilin is a really nice annual event.
