Bird’s Eye View of Cebu City

I’ve seen many wonderful photos of Jones Avenue.  However, I don’t have any idea how the photographers were able to get such awesome aerial shots. I mean, I have seen amateur shots and they too, were taken from some place really high with a really good view of the city.  I’m sure the photographers didn’t get on helicopters or something. LOL. Recently, I discovered that GV Tower Hotel, a relatively new hotel beside the University of Cebu downtown, has a restaurant on the 7th floor. So I wasted no time and went there yesterday to find out if I could take a good shot of Jones Avenue.

Jones Avenue has three ‘skywalks’. Some people say the avenue would’ve looked much better without those walkways. What do you think?

  1. these are terrific shots. i didn’t have a chance to see
this part of the city when i was there in June. hopefully,
i can go back again and see Cebu and it’s beauty.
thanks, Ley for the terrific photos, they are simply
    precious.

  2. Awesome view! That’s why Cebu City is the #1 city in the Philippines. Skyscrapers add beauty, & it will protect people from being hit by vehicles. 🙂 I remember Luym Bldg. very well; my late brother, Jingga, used to work at the revolving restaurant as a singer. Great shots, Ley!

  3. I’d like to commend you for this. Please preserve the shots. In a few years time, it will be a good puzzle for ‘Spot the Changes’ with all the new buildings then.

How I wish there are still copies of pictures of the White Gold House in front of LuYm Bldg. the SSS in Jones Ave, the old GSIS in Leon Kilat, the ABS-CBN in P.del Rosario and other no longer existing landmarks.

  4. ang ABS-CBN sa P.del Rosario mao na ang ACT, ang SSS sa JONES kay tukuran nsab daw ug SSS? pero dako nah.

    @leylan
    – nanawag unta ka nako sa pagsaka nimo sa GV aron makalibre ko ug kaon. 😆

  5. Ley, thanks for such a wonderful shots…. I am soooo homesick! though its been such a very very long time my heart still belongs to Cebu! and call the queen city of the south my home….

  6. Oh, what a brilliant shots Ley, you really had a good camera and your an excellent photograher. Well done.

Skywalk is good idea, its for safety reason,
I wish the revolving resto is still going on,
The houses in Pardo Hills looks nice but scarry about landslide.

  7. Hello rwanda,

Ang OA mo naman… Lahat ng lugar sa mundo ay may malinis at may madumi. Kahit ganyan ang sanciangko, it plays a vital role in the history of Cebu… Mas sucks yang mukha mo.
