Blessed Are The Faithful: Santo Niño Devotees Upclose

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño is one of the most visited churches in Cebu. The church gets regular attendance from devotees who live as far as Sogod in the North and Samboan in the South.

Due to the huge number of churchgoes especially on Sundays, masses are usually held outside – the Pilgrim Center. I’m not sure how much the capacity of the center is. But I’m pretty positive that it’s more than three thousand.

Here are some photos of regular attendance during Sunday night masses at the Basilica.

Wow!

In line for the communion

No space!

Imagine how this place would look like in January.

After the mass. People waiting for the 7:00 PM mass.

  5. ¡OH SEÑOR STO. NIÑO!, BENDIGA NUESTRA COMUNIDAD DE MONJAS CONTEMPLATIVAS EN ESPAÑA, IBIZA Y TAMBIÉN TODA LA CIUDAD LOS SACERDOTES Y LAS ACTIVIDADES DE LA DIÓCESIS. QUE HAYA UNIDAD EN LA IGLESIA Y EL ESTADO POR EL BIEN DE LOS CIUDADANOS. QUE MANDE VOCACIONES EN LA IGLESIA SACERDOTES Y RELIGIOSAS. TAMBIÉN GUÍA A LOS QUE ESTÁN BUSCANDO LA REALIZACIÓN DE SU GUSTO POR EL BIEN DE SU ALMA.

  6. new to the church courtyard is a statue of a child talking to st. augustine. augustine ask the child, “why fill a small hole on the beach with water from the sea?” the child answers, “so i can transfer the sea into the hole.”

this was the point of augustine’s who once was an atheist conversion to christianity. all the knowledge of God cannot not be placed in one’s small head augustine realized as he was travelling the world to discover what was the true God and religion.
